The call is in....I'm staying in East Kilbride with Sister Oswald! Whew. I'm so grateful. Great things are going to happen in East Kilbride and it's going to be such a blessing to see the miracles.
I honestly don't know what to tell you about this week. It flew by faster than a blink. Many experiences of Trials and Joys all put into a week. However, there were three exciting things about this week.
1. Sister Oswald hit her 14 month mark!
2. In District Meeting we did role plays from the nursery book. I had the opportunity to be a 4yr old. Oh it was SO FUN to dangled my feet from the chair, be distracted and not complete my sentences. It was so hard to keep a straight face through it all. I was laughing to myself thinking "How are the Elder's going to handle this?" Oh the good times are rollin!
3. I hit my 6 month mark!!!! Crazy. 1/3 finished. I felt like I was in training just last month. I had a big reality check this week as I realized how much time has past and how much time I have left. once again, Crazy!
The one think I would like to share has touched my heart this week. Tuesday we were at a members home for dinner. She shared a line from the scriptures that she highlighted. The line was 'Wait upon the lord.' I didn't really know what it meant, until later when I ran into an article about Trails. Later in the week I read the phrase again 'Wait upon the lord.' Now i'm thinking "ok Heavenly Father, what are you trying to tell me?" As I pondered about what the phrase meant I figured it out. Yes it's going to seem obvious, but i'm going to say it anyway because we all need a reminder at times.
Things are done on the Lord's time. We seek and are diligent and continue to be obedient. When we are obedient the lord shows us his plan. It's interesting because I feel like the Lord is always waited for me. Waited for me to figure things out when I need to. I often imagine the Lord putting his hand on his head saying "Sister Garlock, come on I know you can figure it out." All Along I thought the Lord was waited on me, but I am waited upon him. I am excersing my faith and relying on him to act when I'm being obedient to his will.
I don't know if that makes sense, but if it does I hope it helped give you a perspective on how much Heavenly Father really does loves us and has a plan for us. If it didn't make sense know this: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints is true, The Savior lives, Jesus is the Christ and through him we will have eternal life.
Be not afraid of greatness. Some are born with greatness, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them.

What a Week!
Everything was different and went according to a plan. We knew it wasn't what Sister Oswald and I had planned. We tried our best to follow our plans, but we got lost when we weren't suppose to. However,
Our land lady told us on Monday that she was planning on painting our room on tuesday morning at 9. The painter took ALL DAY. He started at 9 and therefore we were kicked out because we can't be in the same house as a single man. Our studies were cut short of an hour. However this is the blessing: Our mission president asked us if we would go buy a train ticket for our Recent Convert to Edinburgh Tuesday morning. He wanted us to meet him at the train station at 9 so we could buy him a ticket to Edinburgh to get him there by noon. Our Recent Convert was asked to share his conversion story to the Zone Leaders.
We came home for dinner and the painter man was STILL there. We quickly grabbed a yogurt and an apple and ate dinner outside our flat on some stairs!
I got new glasses! j/k they are a members. We had lunch, cut my fringe and waited until Sister Green (whose glasses i'm wearing) had finished with her hair getting dyed.
I accidently left my camera at the house and was hoping the kids would get there hands on it to take silly pictures. My wish was granted. These are some of the results. It cracks me up the kinds of pictures children take with a camera. I also found about 6 videos on my camera. HILARIOUS!
Yes the week felt off balanced but we were able to accomplish most of our goals. I was shocked to be honest that we were able to accomplish what we did. It was a different kind of work than what i'm use to doing, but it was still successful.
Today Sister Oswald and I ate at one of my FAVORITE places. Muffin Break! ummmmm. As we ordered something surprising happened. They place our muffins on a tray along with knives. KNIVES? what for you ask? yes for the muffins. Britain ALWAYS uses cutlery.
If you are wondering, yes I did use the knife to eat my muffin! It tasted better because I was able to savor it longer! Don't be surprised if I come home eating everything with a knife! haha
Hope everything is going well for everyone. Remember: The Church is true, Jesus loves you and Heavenly Father hears your thoughts and knows what you're up to. Stay good and be true!
Funny moment: Sunday I talked to a man with Alzheimer's. He looked at me and I said "What are you looking at?" (don't know why THAT phrase came out of my mouth). He looked at me and said "I use to have an answer for that, but I can't remember"........goes and asks his wife........... "I don't know what i'm looking at, the label fell off!!!!!" HAHA I couldn't help but laugh. He is such a character. It was my favorite line of the week.

Shattered
Sister Oswald and I fasted, prayed and went to work. As a quote I have says "Get on your knees and pray, then get on your feet and work." That is EXACTLY what we did. We went finding, we did our best to teach and invite people to come to church. By saturday we were shattered. My body was aching from neck to toe, My eyes wanted to close, my feet wanted to be elevated and my body wanted to sleep for two days. However, being so close I knew I couldn't give up.
On Tuesday we invited someone to be baptized and to come to church, he accepted. Great! We were on our way. Day after day we phoned people to set up appointments, tried to teach people on the streets, but none were being receptive. Saturday came and all our plans fell through. We didn't do anything we planned or used as a back up. Our day was so off of what we expected. Even our solid dinner appointment cancelled on us :(
After we indulged in a pizza hut pizza and sweeties, we went back out. We stopped by a potential. She wasn't in, surprised? no. We knew we were there for a reason so we chapped 10 doors on each side. We were at the last door. This was make it or break it. We knock, we wait, a women opens the door. I was planning on saying "We are sharing a message about how we can strengthen our faith in Christ." However, this came out instead "Hi, we are sharing how we can strengthen our families by doing family history." I stumble because I was not expecting such a thing to come out of my mouth. I continue "There is a free database that allows you to start your family tree." The lady says "one moment, hold on please." rushes off back in the house and sends her grand-daughter to the door. I repeat myself about family history and turns out that she has a complicated family tree. She has a multi-cultural family and has tried to do fmaily history. They invited us in and we ended up talking about religion for 30 minutes.
We went home rejoicing. Three new investigators that night!!!! I'm so grateful my faith was tested and I endured it well. As full as I was I felt like I could run home.
Today, Monday. Sister Oswald and I treated ourselves to Thorton's delicious icecream!!! I LOVE chocolate and can't eat it like an adult. Notice the chocolate stains around my mouth!!!
Hope everyone is having a great week.
Truth will Prevail.
